Create a new document in Indesign that is Tabloid Sized (11 inches x 17 inches).
The document can be vertically oriented or horizontally oriented.
A margin is the white space that surrounds the content of a page. Make the margins .5 inches on the Top, Bottom, Inside and Outside. Indesign defaults to this usually.
TIP: CMD + ; will hide or reveal the margins.
CMD + ‘ will hide or reveal a grid.
Create an Image Box
Select the Rectangle Frame tool. Click and marquee drag the mouse with the tool selected to create a rectangle that reaches all four margins. This box will contain your images. When your images are ready to be brought into the Indesign document, type in CMD + D to browse for and place your image.
Create a Text Box
Select the Type too and click an marquee drag the mouse to create a box to create a box for your type. You can also choose to work with the type in Illustrator instead.
Play around with the positioning of the type.
Make 4 versions with different type.
- left aligned
- right aligned
- center aligned
- diagonal
Make different type color versions.
