ASSIGNMENT 1A
Get your supplies:
- Portable Flash Drive (4Gigs) or Portable Harddrive.
- 8.5” x 11” (Minimum size 6” x 9”) Sketchbook
- 2B, 3B, and 4B sketch pencils (or mechanical pencils)
- Art Eraser
- Color drawing media (Color Pencils, Markers, or Watercolor Paint, Watercolor Pencils)
- Scissors
- Gluestick

Send me an email with a picture of yourself stating your:
- Name
- Email (Please note that I will need your email to be able to invite you to the class blog)
- Year in College (Freshman, Sophomore or just taking for fun)

Read the Handout:
“Basic design” by Jennifer Cole Phillips be prepared to discuss in class.
Find one example of Graphic Design that you think is good design.
Find one example of Graphic Design that you think is bad design.
Try to be objective in your selections i.e. think about whether or not the example conveys a clear message. Bring printouts or physical copies (if it is not a magazine or publication.) Make sure images are large enough for us to see. If choosing from the internet use goofle image search and choose search tools>image size>large. By choosing only large photos your images should be large enough for us to see clearly when you print them.
FOR NEXT CLASS:
Come to class with your sketchbook and your external hard drive and printouts of the good design/bad design assignment so we can hang them on the bulletin board and discuss.
