Unity and Variety

• Unity: The overriding principal at the heart of the composition
• Variety: The counter point the provides contrast and visual interest

Hierarchy: Refers to an order in which importance and emphasis is given to visual elements in the composition. Controlling hierarchy determines the path the viewer’s eye takes as it looks at a design.
